riverview farms: wagyu sausages

hello all! as promised, here’s my review on some wagyu sausages my aunt got from costco 🙂

rv1

i don’t know how much it was but i’m guessing it was about $7 or $8. at first sight, they look like ordinary beef sausages. the back of the package says 80% meat (o.o) and the front says 100% australian wagyu. i wonder what the other 20% consists of. maybe fat? oh well! i won’t think about it!

they were pretty easy to cook. the instructions says to not pierce them. i’m guessing because the juice will come out if you do. when i was just about done with cooking them, i noticed that the juices were oozing out. i panicked a little because i was worried it won’t be as yummy. when i cut open the first one, just to make sure it’s fully cooked, i noticed a lot of oil came out! boy, was i excited. i took my first bite and expected juice to burst out but sadly, that didn’t happen. i have no idea why but i’m guessing i may have over cooked them just a little 🙁

these sausages are heavily seasoned. my fiance loved them. actually, i’m not a fan of sausages but seeing as they were wagyu, i was dying to try them. to me, they taste like other sausages but a little juicier. i’m sure sausage fans would love these wagyu sausages but sadly, these were not my cup of tea…

bestwagyu.com

hi readers! as i mentioned in my last post, i bought some wagyu online from http://www.bestwagyu.com; 4 x 250grams wagyu sirloin steaks with marble score of 9 and 150grams of smoked wagyu silverside.

general

i think the website is pretty good although i had some issues with payment. however, it was sorted out promptly. i bought the wagyu around the end of august because they had free delivery for purchases of $100 or over. the delivery was prompt as well – i received a call from the delivery man and he asked if anyone would be available to pick up the meat. bestwagyu.com is also a part of the australian association of wagyu.

smoked wagyu silverside

i really wanted to try this because it was quite cheap; $6.50 for 150grams. i really liked the strong smokey flavour. the texture is good; soft and tender. however, i couldn’t really taste the wagyu and i thought smoked ham would probably taste the same (minus the tenderness).

sirloin steaks

i got the 4 sirloin steaks for $100 as it was special. it would have been at least $130. awesomeness! when i first got it, i was worried about the colour.

as you can see, it’s quite dark but look at that marbling! after doing some research on the internet, i’ve found that the colour is due to vacumming. we decided to eat the steaks last thursday and we grilled them on a portable grill i bought on ebay years ago hehe!

look at my babies on the grill!bw4here they are again, almost done!

here is one of my babies, plated and ready to make me proud! we served it along with some veggies and mushrooms. we also had some sweet potato fries. they were so crunchy ^.^

the first bite i had of my wagyu steak i almost fainted. i did shudder a little. it was so rich and buttery. the juices leaked out upon sinking my teeth in. it was cooked to medium rare. i usually don’t like anything less than medium-well done but i make exceptions for wagyu 😛 i’m so glad i bought this because i haven’t had wagyu steak this awesome in such a long long time. look at this!

sadly, all good times must end. chunk by chunk, my wagyu steak disappeared quickly and now, i can hardly remember how good it tasted already 🙁 i would definately buy from bestwagyu.com again but only when they are having specials or free delivery so that my fiance could try some too. he isn’t a big fan of beef but once he tries this, i’m sure he would join me in satisfying my wagyu cravings ♥

🙂
