we grabbed a takeaway here at mario tokyo pizza, strathfield sometime december last year. it was so long ago that i had to google the names of the pizzas we took away! mario tokyo is a small store located in strathfield plaza, facing 7-eleven. when i went to grab my takeaway (bought through menulog), there weren’t much people at about 6pm. anyhow, these 2 pizzas cost us about $20 if memory serves, due to some promotion from menulog. look at their cute pizza boxes! if you read carefully, there’s a story regarding mario and tokyo on the box.
the bulgogi. look at the meat on top. this is definitely the one that caught our eyes when we looked at the menu. bulgogi, brocolli, capcicum and cheese. this was one of the best pizzas ever. i swear that if dominos isn’t 50% cheaper we wouldn’t go to dominos again. the combination of korean style beef with brocolli (have you ever seen brocolli on pizza?) was simply amazing. i say this is the winning pizza on the menu!
patata mozarella. this one is not as exciting as the first. i love my potato wedges, as would anyone else, crispy. these weren’t, and they’re soft all over! that being said, i am still partial to wedges, and would give this a fair pass. wedges on pizza, that makes a pretty carby meal. given the choice again i would have bought 2x bulgogi pizzas.
the verdict? the food was decent, as the patata mozarella was a bit of a let down. other plusses? i ordered takeaway at a certain time and the food was ready when i arrive. however, serving sizes are small, and i daresay you need more than 2 of these pizzas to feed a 20-something male and his girlfriend.
