p.j. gallaghers @ sydney

hello everyone! still feeling a little sick but i’m about 95% okay now 🙂 so today my fiance and i went to an irish pub at wynyard called p.j. gallaghers because we scored a voucher which we paid $19 for $50 worth of food. they had wagyu burgers! the place is quite nice. and we were served by a lovely girl with a scottish or irish accent. we ordered two wagyu burgers (with fries), a bowl of wedges and a cheese platter.

pjg1

our wagyu beef burger with tasty cheese, lettuce, tomato, caramelised onion, gherkins, aioli (mine without the tomato and gherkins). the bun was super crispy; a little too crispy for my liking. the wagyu was disappointing 🙁 the burger was a little too dry and the flour on the bun adds to the dryness as well >.< i think more cheese and aioli would have made the burger nicer.

pj2

mmm… seasoned wedges, freshly fried with sour cream and sweet chilli. these were so lovely! however, by the time we were done with our burgers, halfway done with the fries and wedges, we were so full that we had to cancel my cheese platter 🙁 the waitress was nice enough to help us cancel it even thought she was having lunch and it has already been prepared. thank you 🙂

we had a lovely time at p.j. gallaghers even though the burger was a little disappointing. i’m still full from lunch 7.5 hours later!

nadaman @ hong kong

hi everyone ~,~

i’ve been quite sick since last monday. but as promised, here is my first official post!

in 2008, during christmas, i went back to hong kong to visit friends and family. my auntie treated me to a meal at nadaman, a well known fine dining japanese restaurant. she has treated me, my parents and my brother to eat there many times because she knows one of the chefs well. anyway, we had a variety of things; a fish dish, wagyu (duh), wagyu fried rice and a variety of vegetables.

nd2

this is the fish. it was cooked in sake and butter…but i can’t remember what other things were in cooked with it!

nd3

wagyu cubes! the quality of the wagyu was definately quite high. the wagyu cubes looked very cooked on the outside but the inside was about medium well done. this effectively locked the juices inside so when you bite into the cubes…ughh…heaven.

nd4

ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the world’s most delicious fried rice! it was cooked with wagyu fat and bits of wagyu meat *drools*.

anyway, since my brain isn’t working properly, i’m going to end my post here.

🙂

introductions

hi everyone! i thought i might kick off this blog by talking a bit about myself 🙂

why i started this blog

one random day at uni, i was hungry and a little bored. i started googling for photos of wagyu, the other love of my life. then when i got home at night, i had an idea of starting a blog about my wagyu eating adventures. but then since i don’t eat wagyu that much (i’m a poor student!), i decided i should also blog about eating at different restaurants using vouchers!

my first taste of heaven a.k.a. wagyu

the first time i ever had wagyu, i was pretty young…about 8? i had it at a classy japanese restaurant called nadaman at shangri-la hotel, hong kong. it was served cubed along with some garlic chips, medium rare. all i remember was biting into the piece of meat and juice from the fat leaking out.

best. food. ever.

and from there on, i’ve never had enough of wagyu!

what to expect

well, i’ll update this blog occasionally when i need to rant about wagyu, as the blog name suggests. my fiance and i buy restaurant deals from sites like groupon from time to time then we eat out using these deals about once a week. we always take photos so i guess i’ve been wanting to show these photos off!

there you go. story of my life. until next time peeps 🙂
