hey all! today’s post is rather special – it’s on the sea! we went to salt and grill by luke mangan. luke’s salt and grill restaurants are pretty famous and have been established in a few cities around the world, and luke’s kind of a big deal; he’s cooked for a few celebrities and even at the wedding of prince fredrick and princess mary! so the day we boarded the pacific jewel we made a booking for salt and grill.
we started of with bread in a olive oil dip and dukkah. the dukkah spice was delicious and complemented the bread and olive oil well. we finished it really quickly and eagerly waited for our entrée.
for entrée, I had the seared sea scallops with blue cheese polenta and truffle oil. the scallops were utterly delicious. the polenta was really smooth as well, and much to my relief, there wasn’t as strong blue cheese taste. c had the pan fried gnocchi with season vegetables and polenta – her comments were that they were really crispy outside and had a pillowy texture inside.
for main, i had the king of mains – lobster tail with mediterranean spices with homemade bbq sauce. it was utterly delicious. the simple grilling method really brought out the sweetness and tenderness of the meat. it was o.m.g sweet, simple and utterly delicious. c had the black angus scotch steak – 300gm cooked medium with béarnaise sauce. she was struggling to choose between wagyu rump and this, but the but the waiter recommended this because fattier. her comments: very yummy and meaty, juicy, fatty, have a bit of a charred taste!
for sides, we weren’t really given a limit on how many we can order! we ended up with 3: truffle and parmesan french fries which were deliciously crispy and fluffy, truffled mashed potatoes which was the best we have ever had in our lives: smooth and creamy with a taste of truffle oil and the creamed corn, bacon, parmesan and lemon thyme which was really sweet and cheesy.
for desserts, I had luke’s sorbet. unfortunately I was never a big fan of licorice (and ordered this hoping to change my mind) and i found this dessert to be just okay. c had the petit fours which were okay as well but did not finish as she was really full after the huge meal.
if you are joining a po cruises cruise, you cannot miss out on luke’s!
