xiao fei yang @ kuala lumpur

the next post here is a hotpot place in kuala lumpur. xiao fei yang can be directly translated into english as little fat lamb and is apparently quite popular in china and hong kong! so how did the kl branch fare?

the restaurant is located close to berjaya times square. i estimate that it is about 5 mins walk from the shopping centre (and therefore the monorail station). again a common theme with the restaurants we go there in kl, they are located in scary neighbourhoods. it’s okay if you drive over and park close to the place, but if you walk over you might meet some scary people. the place itself is located in an old looking building.

xfy1when we arrived we were given some interesting looking fruit which none of us are game to try. i reckon it’s a type of citrus fruit bowls and cutleries are hygienically presented, shrink wrapped in clear plastic. we were also given three complimentary sauces (satay, chilli oil and other both of us cannot recall.

xfy4

xfy3we opted for the herbal soup (rm 20). the soup was very yummy and set a delicious base for all our dishes. you can also pick the hot and spicy option or the combination soup option.

xfy2

we ordered:

gluten balls (rm 4) and fried bean curd skin (rm 5)

xfy5us beef tendon (rm 18), which is actually just sliced beef

xfy8fei yang noodle (rm 6) and lotus root slice (rm 7)

xfy7buck choy (rm ?), crab sticks (rm 6) and chicken sausage with cheese (rm 10)

xfy6

all up, including soft drinks, set us back a cool rm 120, which is pricey by malaysian standards. indeed, it’s about aud 40. the food was very good, but was accompanied by a high price tag, and i believe you can do better elsewhere with the money.
